What is Chi Kung?
Chi Kung, also written Chi Gong or Qi Gong, literally translates into "Energy Exercise". It is a generic term, which is used for a large range of Chinese health practises. The common goal of all Chi Kung systems is to stimulate and balance the internal flow of energy, known as 'chi'. The unobstructed flow of Chi is key to our health.
"Standing like a tree", in Chinese Zhan Zhuang (pronounced 'jam-jong'), is a unique Chi Kung system that is characterised by its great effectiveness and efficiency. Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung is practised in well-balanced standing positions, which increase the flow of energy and build up internal strength.
Each Chi Kung class starts with simple stretching exercises followed by standing positions and lasts for one hour. See the timetable for details of class times. Please feel free to turn up to any Chi Kung class at the Well Being Centre or contact us for more information.
